Screen Time Reward Chart
Turn a daily screen-time limit into a weekly chart with earned bonus minutes. Set the rules once and reset the chart each Monday.
What you get
A weekly table showing base screen time, optional bonus minutes, and the maximum for each day, plus weekly totals. The chart turns a vague limit into a number children can see.
How to use it
Set the daily limit first. Then decide what earns bonus minutes — getting dressed without reminders, finishing reading, or another clear routine. Keep the bonus small enough that a missed day does not feel like a punishment. Print or copy the chart and reset it every Monday.
One example
A 60-minute daily limit plus 15 bonus minutes across seven days gives 420 base minutes and a 525-minute ceiling. A child who completes the routine five days earns 75 extra minutes but never gets more than 75 in a single day.
Common questions
Should bonus minutes roll over?
No. Rolling over creates a weekend binge and weakens the daily limit. Let unearned minutes expire.
What counts as completed?
One or two visible actions, not a vague "good behavior" score. Children need to know exactly what earns the bonus.
What about sick days?
Pause the chart. A reward system that ignores illness teaches children to hide being unwell.
