Recipe Serving Scaler
Scale any recipe from its original servings to the number of people at your table. Shows the factor and the adjusted amount.
What you get
A scale factor and the adjusted amount for one ingredient at a time. Repeat the calculation for each line in the recipe; the factor stays the same until the serving numbers change.
How to use it
Enter the recipe's original yield and the number of servings you actually need. Enter the ingredient amount and choose its unit. For fractions, use decimals: one-half cup is 0.5, one-third is 0.33. Round to a practical measure when you cook.
One example
A recipe for four servings calls for 1.5 cups of stock. For six servings the factor is 1.5, so the scaled amount is 2.25 cups. If the recipe uses two eggs for four servings, six servings need three eggs.
Common questions
Do cooking times scale too?
No. Scaling ingredients does not scale oven time linearly. Start checking at the original time and add a few minutes as needed.
What about pan size?
A larger batch needs more surface area or a longer cook. Use a wider pan or split the batch rather than crowding one dish.
Why is my result rounded?
The tool shows two decimals for readability. Adjust to the nearest measurable amount when you cook.
